In this episode Dr. Clark continues his series on the Canons of Dort where we are looking at the Third and Fourth Heads of Doctrine of the Canons of Dort, specifically examining regeneration in preparation for the Fifth Head of Doctrine which is on apostasy and the perseverance of the saints. Godfrey refers to the Canons of the Synod of Dort “emminantly pastoral” but not purely technical. Clark explains how the Reformation background—only about 100 years old when these were written—sets the stage for the Canons of Dort and the issues they address. He also answers questions from Alexander, John, and Michelle, et al. about the NAPARC church locator on the Heidelblog Resources page; and an email from Jackson who is looking for good books on the person and works of the Holy Spirit. The opening audio clip is from the Armstrong & Getty radio show.
This episode of the Heidelcast is sponsored by Westminster Seminary California. Are you thinking about seminary? If you feel called to serve the church and want to be better equipped, consider attending Westminster Seminary California—a confessionally Reformed institution that offers masters programs in biblical and theological studies, historical theology, and divinity. WSCAL is unique in its approach to education because it:
● Emphasizes mastering the original biblical languages
● Intentionally maintains a small student-to-professor ratio
● Focuses on face-to-face education
● Understands the importance of having pastor-scholars with experience in ministry train the next generation of leaders in the church.
But don’t just take it from us—come visit the campus yourself! Westminster Seminary California is offering Seminary For A Day on October 28th, 2022 where you can sit in on classes, meet other students, have lunch with a professor, and see the campus housing and amenities in person! The visit will also include a special Reformation Day Lecture by Dr. R. Scott Clark: “Why The Reformation Matters for Ministry.”
WSCAL even offers a $400 travel grant to help cover expenses of the visit so you can see if this might be the next right step for you! Go to wscal.edu or call 888-480-8474 for more information.
