  1. To use my husband’s phrase, I am “in violent agreement” with this series on grammar guerilla warfare. May I suggest that you discuss the foolish loss of the word give, in favor of gift as a verb, e.g. “he gifted his wife with . . .,” we are gifting to this organization.”
    Would you please also contend for the proper use of the past tense? We seem to be discarding at least one element of the conjugation of verbs, and I think it’s just lazy.

  2. At the very end of the show, Clark says, “There is a lot of alternatives to efforting.” Should the “is” be replaced with “are” or is “lot” singular?

  3. I hear a local radio sports talkshow host use “efforting” far too often. In a recent email to him, I encouraged him not to do that — even though it would take a lot of try on his part. I believe he understood the message.
