  1. Not only are periods seen as being too serious, but now “lol” has replaced the period for younger Millennials and Gen Z. If one is texting, many in those cohorts may interpret the lack of the “punctual lol” as signaling one’s displeasure.

    Even I, as an older Gen Z who cares about grammar, tend to interpret texts from older generations this way, even though I know that’s not at all how they think about it.

  2. Without punctuation, it is easy, especially in a fallen world with flawed people, even the redeemed, it is to misread, misunderstand, draw faulty conclusions. I’m a big fan of punctuation, and and I have been lamenting its disappearance.

    One more thing, it is not stodgy to value punctuation.

    (I initially thought that the shared clip was from a TV show or movie. It was that ridiculous.)
