He said, “It is finished,” not “It’s 70% done, now over to you.”
As I began my exodus out of Calvary Chapel in the early 2000’s, the pianist for the worship team wrote this little ditty for the alter call:
“Jesus, I hear you calling me
Can you set me free?
I know I hear you calling
Now it’s up to me”
That one verse encapsulates the whole of the aberrant theology behind this.
