What The Biden Administration’s “Equality Act” Would Do

Witness the so-called Equality Act, which candidate Biden vowed to make a priority and which is set to be voted on by the House this week. What’s the Equality Act? And who could be against equality? Don’t let the name fool you.

The act “updates” the law Congress passed primarily to combat racism, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and adds sexual orientation and gender identity as protected classes akin to race. So if you have any reservations about gender ideology — as even many progressives do; just ask J.K. Rowling — you’d now be the legal equivalent of Bull Connor.

Rather than finding common-sense, narrowly tailored ways to shield LGBT-identifying Americans from truly unjust discrimination, the bill would act as a sword — to persecute those who don’t embrace newfangled gender ideologies. It would vitiate a sex binary that is quite literally written into our genetic code and is fundamental to many of our laws, not least laws protecting the equality, safety and privacy of women.

The Equality Act would sacrifice the hard-won rights of women, while privileging men who identify as women. If it becomes law, such men would have a right to spend the night in battered-women’s shelters, disrobe in women’s locker rooms and compete on women’s sports teams — even at K-12 schools.

Don’t believe me? Here’s the text: “An individual shall not be denied access to a shared facility, including a restroom, a locker room and a dressing room, that is in accordance with the individual’s gender identity.” So you can keep separate facilities for men and women, but you have to redefine what men and women are. Likewise, you can reserve certain jobs only for men or women — think TSA agents doing pat-downs — but you have to let a man who identifies as a woman do strip searches on women.

The act would also massively expand the government’s regulatory reach. The Civil Rights Act, it seems, is too narrow for today’s Democrats. The Equality Act would coerce “any establishment that provides a good, service, or program, including a store, shopping center, online retailer or service provider, salon, bank, gas station, food bank, service or care center, shelter, travel agency or funeral parlor, or establishment that provides health care, accounting or legal services,” along with any organization that receives any federal funding. 1. Praise God, this madness is unimaginable in the place and country where I live. We just laugh, when we hear such news from across the ocean. It seems, that nowadays people in America has a very wrong, extreme idealistic understanding of the nature of sexes. It seems that nowadays concept of sexes is devoid of it’s original biological content. This understanding of things is destructive and pernicious; It’s demeaning to every sane person. But for me it only says that in the next decades people reopen and reestablish original biological and materialistic understanding of this problem. Nature, reason and religion didn’t know such thing as “gender”. Those persons, who believes that there are more than two sexes existed, and all kinds of hermaphrodites which are disfiguring themselves must be mercifully placed… in Kirkbride buildings.

    • About half of us hold to this ideology, and the ideological half is trying to coerce the rest of us through government.

Remember that gay “marriage” was shot-down by voters in the 38 states it was put to a vote. It didn’t matter, we got it anyway. The same was true in Western Europe. No one asked for World War T but the elites want it. I don’t know why this is other than our sin has reached its full measure and we’re at the end of our civilization now though the seeds of this ideological madness started hundreds of years ago.

After you finish laughing, remember to pray for us. I don’t think there’s anything we can do about this in our government. In general, Western nation-state governments have collapsing legitimacy.

    • Bryce, your comment reminds me of Wilfred Owen’s
“Offer the Ram of Pride instead of him.
But the old man would not so, but slew his son,
And half the seed of Europe, one by one”.

    • Which, sadly, shows that Owen, unlike the other Owen, did not understand what the Ram was really about, Sunday school teacher though he had been..

  2. Thank you very much for this, Dr Clark (I’m thanking you under a pseudonym, because if Big Tech do anything to you for posting the truth on here, I want to live to fight another day – not that I’d survive for much longer than that other day!
Or are you hoping that Word Press are better than Amazon? If so, I hope you’re right!).

    • This is not a word press.com site. I pay rent to my host, bluehost.com but I use WordPress software for the blog. I have paid word press for that. So, this is not quite the same situation.

    • Scott,

WordPress probably has terms and conditions that allow them to revoke your software license for any reason. Amazon and Shopify have done this to their customers. The open-source version of WordPress at wordpress.org is free. I’m not sure how hosting works, whether your .php files are stored on the host site or somehow belong to WordPress through some cloud service, but I’m sure there’s a way to back them up.
