I meant to look up Hostas:
I am as amused that it was formerly classed in the Genus Funkia. That genus would also include the bands Parliament, the Ohio Players, and one of my favorites, The Average White Band, which was made up of Scottish musicians, the most famous of which was probably Hamish Stuart. As an Average White guy, I identified with them.
Stuart’s performance of “Ain’t No Sunshine” on McCartney’s MTV Unplugged is worthy of the Bill Withers’ 1971 original.
I do agree with the conclusions you come up with- we’re not lax per se but careless is a good description.
Thanks to last week’s episode, I now have something to say when I answer the door to JWs or LDS: “are you guys federal agents?”
