Did John Owen write that? I thought he was a baptist or at least he became one at the end of his life?

Yes, Owen wrote it.
No, John Owen was not a Baptist nor did he ever become a Baptist.
He had Baptist friends, and he even cooperated with the Baptists in helping them to evaluate ministers – I have many Baptist friends, and I have helped to train Baptist pastors for more than 25 years – but he always argued for the Reformed reading of redemptive history, as you see here and the Reformed understanding of church and sacraments
