Reformation Day 2013: A Convict, A Commentator, And A Catechism

Title Page Heidelberg Catechism 1563The good folk at Escondido URC invited me to speak for their Reformation Day celebration. Since it’s the 450th anniversary of the Heidelberg Catechism (this is the Heidelblog, after all) I spoke on the some of the personalities behind the catechism and some of the challenges faced by the framers of the catechism. I was able to capture a bit of the singing beforehand so I included it so you could get a sense of the context. We sang three psalms (46, 68, and 78). The clip of the singing you hear is a  setting of Psalm 46 (to Ein Feste Burg) in the 1959 Psalter-Hymnal.
