In this episode of the Credo Podcast, Dr. Scott Clark, president of the Heidelberg Reformation Association, joins Matthew Barrett for a discussion about the Heidelberg Catechism and Clark’s new book, The Heidelberg Catechism: A Historical, Theological, and Pastoral Commentary. In this conversation, Clark explains the historic practice of catechesis, how the Heidelberg Catechism is an heir of that tradition, and then critiques the methods of contemporary evangelical formation. The discussion deepens as they consider the relationship between nature and grace and the modern theological instinct to see grace as something that destroys or replaces nature rather than perfecting it and affirming the essential goodness of nature as created.
