  1. Thanks for sharing, Prof. Clark. You talked briefly about some Protestants who bowed down before a Bible. I have never heard of such a thing being done, and it seems wrong to do; but I wonder what you would make of a verse like Psalm 119:48:

    [48] I will lift up my hands toward your commandments, which I love,
    and I will meditate on your statutes.

    If we shall not bow before a Bible, may we lift up our hands toward the Bible?

      It’s in the bible but, as I’ve been told by one of my biblical studies colleagues, the most likely practice was simply turning one’s palms toward heaven.
