This minicast took me back to my days at Calvary Chapel and the influence RC Sproul was having on my thinking. Mike Horton was correct on the “cage stage” thing, yet having your whole theological underpinnings torn out was, for me, just like be set free…again.
I’m curious, maybe those that could be labeled “reformed jerks” were just jerks to begin with?
Hey Dr I was reading the article which this heidelminicast is based off of and I agree we should be nice but what about some of the the other articles that you’ve done about how we should engage with pagans. Example being of Tertillian and the letter to Diognetus. There was another article that you lamented why someone, i forgot who, had to apologize for calling you stupid. In the article it stated that sometimes sharp word need to be used because it is a form of loving your brother. how do you when to be a “jerk.”
Dave,
That is a great question which I hope to answer in a forthcoming book. It will be a while because I have been trying to write it for about 15 years.
