Author: J. Gresham Machen

The Rev. J. Gresham Machen, D.D. Litt.D. (1881–1937) was Professor of New Testament at Princeton Theological Seminary and the founder of Westminster Theological Seminary (1929) and the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (1936). He authored The Origin of Paul’s Religion (1921), Christianity and Liberalism (1923), and The Virgin Birth of Christ among other works. He was the most important American defender of historic Christianity in the first half of the twentieth century. He died in Bismarck, ND on a speaking tour to rally support for the OPC.
