In a world marked by constant change, uncertainty, and anxiety, Christians often find themselves asking questions they never expected to ask: Am I really saved? Does God still love me? Can I trust his promises when everything feels unstable? These questions are not new, nor are they signs of weak faith.
On January 23–24, Westminster Seminary California invites Christians from every walk of life to join them for two days of biblical teaching, encouragement, and refreshment. You don’t need to be a pastor or have a theology degree to enjoy this conference. You simply need to be someone who wants to grow in the comfort and confidence the Lord freely gives to his people. Speakers
W. Robert Godfrey, The Christian Consoled
President Emeritus and Professor Emeritus of Church History
The Reformation recovered the biblical Gospel and the confident faith that unites us to Christ and all his benefits. How do we understand and cultivate that assured faith, avoiding both careless presumption on the one hand and enervating fears and doubts on the other hand? We will look at the teaching of the Bible and of the Three Forms of Unity on this vital question.
R. Scott Clark, The Christian Comforted
Professor of Church History and Historical Theology
One of the most comforting truths of the Christian life is the reality that there is nothing in all of creation can separate us from the love of the Father, in the Son, through the Holy Spirit. This session will explore how the Scriptures and the Heidelberg Catechism declare and cultivate our understanding and experience of this comfort.
Michael S. Horton, The Christian Assured
J. Gresham Machen Professor of Systematic Theology and Apologetics
This session will consider how a robust appreciation of assurance manifests itself in the life of the Christian and witness of the Christian Church. We will also explore how various modern traditions and philosophies address or challenge the biblical understanding of assurance.
David VanDrunen, The Christian Reassured
Robert B. Strimple Professor of Systematic Theology and Christian Ethics
Westminster Confession of Faith 18 presents a theologically mature and pastorally sensitive expression of the Reformed doctrine of assurance. While teaching that assurance belongs to the essence of faith and is meant for all Christians, it also recognizes that Christians often struggle with doubts, temptations, and sins, even while God always protects them from “utter despair.
Joel E. Kim, The Christian Blessed
President and Assistant Professor of New Testament
The promise of Scriptures is that God will bring us to our eternal home one day. This session will address how the promise of the future resurrection and the hope of eternal glory inform and affect believers in their Christian life.
