First, by His resurrection He has overcome death, that He might make us partakers of the righteousness which He has obtained for us by His death. Secondly, by His power we are also now raised up to a new life. Thirdly, the resurrection of Christ is to us a sure pledge of our blessed resurrection.

Notice that this is in the present tense! Just as it is in Ephesians. It IS an accomplished fact! I remember being overwhelmed with emotion when I first realized this. This gave me the greatest assurance of salvation, that on the last day we will simply realize the fact that, in Christ, we are already seated in the heavenly places along with Him, as surely as He was resurrected. Oh happy day!
