The gospel really does become again a strange announcement, totally unexpected to fallen ears—especially when sermons are caught between “evangelical” encouragement and culture wars bellicosity.

  1. Great quote- especially after having just spent the morning in Machen’s sermons, collected in the book, “God Transcendent.”

    This quote is an echo of Machen’s insight and focus.

    Praise God for the simplicity of the gospel message: atonement and justification.
