We exist in a vacuous epoch of lies where the most hardened hearts are eclipsed by reality due to their sin. The ability to press objective truth with a subjective lens has taken over and caused a stir on true morality from the Scriptures.
Our greatest problem, that is sin separates us from our Maker by a gulf and chasm so great, nothing could bridge us back to the hands of God. However, by God’s infinite and immutable plan to draw His elect to Himself, Penal Substitutionary Atonement (PSA) offers the solution to the issue of our sin.
Many thoughts and opinions abound on the doctrine of biblical PSA. Reformed Christianity states Jesus Christ took the penalty for human sin as a substitute for the elect of God, thereby satisfying God’s wrath and instituting forgiveness. It is based on the truth that God is a holy judge who must punish sin, and Christ—the innocent substitute—bore the punishment that humans deserved. Christ became the propitiation of the elect pleasing the justice of punishment due unto us as we receive the true righteousness of Christ called The Great Exchange. 2 Corinthians 5:21 states, “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” This is the good news of the gospel: though we stood condemned, Christ bore our curse, that we might stand forgiven and accepted before the throne of grace.
