J. K. Rowling Heroic Resistance To The Trans Movement Is A Model

I’m not a Harry Potter fan. But please don’t cancel me or stop reading.

The reason I’m not an HP fan has little to do with overblown concerns about magic and spirits. Neither do I dislike the HP canon. It’s just too long and is set in an area of non-interest to me. However, I have a wife who loves the series, a daughter who is the same, grandchildren who will listen for hours as some long, fantasy book is read. One of them is even heading for HP World in Orlando for spring break.

But just because I’m not a fan of HP, does not mean that I am not a big fan of the creator of HP, J. K. Rowling. In fact, she is up for our Profile in Courage Award this year, which honors a person who goes against the liberal grain and drafts many others in her tailwind.

Most already know of Rowling’s very public resistance to the Trans movement in the United Kingdom. She ventured where few dared, stating that there were only two sexes and gender is not fluid. She even fought off the hate speech Nazis and dared them to fine her for her many public pronouncements, e. g, that boys and girls are—and always will be—different. Furthermore, she offered financial assistance (with her hefty royalties) to others who defied the thought police. Rowling may be as responsible as anyone else in turning a society in the right direction in one ethical arena.
