I have been troubled with this topic for some time since it seems that Richard Baxter was an Amyraldian. Amyraldianism seems to be heretical, or at least, heresy-adjacent. Are there aspects of Baxter we should be wary of when reading him? I have been greatly encouraged by his work over the years, but have not deep-dived his writings. I have never seen what I thought was aberrant thinking, but as an aberrant thinker myself I may not be in a position to judge properly.
Randall,
Yes! there are several reasons not to be reading Richard Baxter. See if among them is that he openly denied the gospel of free justification by grace alone, through faith alone.
