The Rev. Mr David Strain is speaking now in chapel at Westminster Seminary California. He is pastor of Main Street Presbyterian Church in Columbus, MS (PCA) and the guest of the student association. He talking about Colossians 1 as a realistic pattern for pastoral ministry.
He doesn’t know it (well, he didn’t) but David is a hero of mine. He’s a faithful minister of the gospel, a true expositor of the text. He’s honest, gracious, articulate—but most of all he’s a pastor who has stood for and continues to be valiant for truth.
He has some firm words for us winsomely delivered. These talks will be posted on the seminary site. Don’t miss them.
Update
David is scheduled to contribute to the Lectio Continua commentary series. Their website adds a little biography:
David TA Strain is currently the senior pastor of Main Street Presbyterian Church, Columbus, MS, and previously served as the pastor of London City Presbyterian Church, (the Free Church of Scotland congregation in central London, England). He holds degrees from the University of Dundee, the University of Glasgow, and the Free Church of Scotland College, Edinburgh. David has contributed articles to the Scottish Bulletin of Evangelical Theology and Reformation 21.
What does it take to be your hero, sir? 😀
Good question. Not sure how to answer. Part of the answer is “I know one when I see one.” The other part would be courage that comes from trust in Christ (which itself comes by grace alone).
