American College Of Pediatricians: Children Need Heterosexual Parents

Studies that appear to indicate neutral to favorable child outcomes from same-sex parenting have critical design flaws. These include non-longitudinal design, inadequate sample size, biased sample selection, lack of proper controls, failure to account for confounding variables, and perhaps most problematic – all claim to affirm the null hypothesis.14,15,16 Therefore, it is impossible for these studies to provide any support for the alleged safety or potential benefits to children from same-sex parenting.

Data on the long-term outcomes of children placed in same-sex households is sparse and gives reason for concern.17 This research has revealed that children reared in same-sex households are more likely to experience sexual confusion, engage in risky sexual experimentation, and later adopt a same-sex identity.18-22 This is concerning since adolescents and young adults who adopt the homosexual lifestyle are at increased risk for mental health problems, including major depression, anxiety disorders, conduct disorders, substance dependence, and especially suicidal ideation and suicide attempts.23 Recent studies confirm that children reared by same-sex couples fare worse in a multitude of outcome categories than those reared by heterosexual, married couples.24-27

  1. This statement is not from the American Academy of Pediatrics, but the American College of Pediatricians. These are two very different organizations. A quick search on AAP’s website couldn’t find a similar position statement, although they do have several articles about how to deal with being gay when you’re a teenager and how a pediatrician might help families in those situations. These articles are far more socially liberal than the conservative positions of the American College of Pediatricians.

  2. This is from the American College of Pediatrics, not the American Academy of Pediatrics as you indicate. It is a small splinter group formed in opposition to certain AAP positions.

  3. ‘Obviously whoever they are, the ACP or the AAP, they are haters at war with reality and that’s good enough for me. Who listens to these kind of Nazis anyway?’

Ridiculous questions aside, one of the amici curiae briefs in the Obergfell charade was from children who grew up in homosexual and lesbian families. IOW yet another item you didn’t see in the fakestream media because it didn’t toe the approved pink line in the liberal progressive moral sandbox.

    • When historians go sifting through our ashes, The Obergefell decision, along with Roe v. Wade, will go down as the biggest de-legitimizers of the federal government. Gay “marriage” went down in all 40 states where it was put to a popular vote, yet 5 fools in black robes were able to overturn all of our collective, regional voting. Now I see signs from our state government advertising foster parenting to LGBT couples.
